“For female athletes, the talent is there, the dedication is there, but the support system often isn’t. That’s what we want to change with VOXA.” – Suzann Pettersen

Suzann Pettersen is a name synonymous with success in women’s golf. A two-time major champion and former Solheim Cup captain, she has long been an advocate for the growth of the women’s game. Now, she’s taking that mission off the course with the launch of VOXA, a new agency dedicated to empowering female athletes.

VOXA aims to redefine athlete representation by focusing on the unique challenges women face in professional sports, from securing sponsorships to ensuring financial stability and career longevity. With her wealth of experience, Pettersen is determined to create a system that supports women both on and off the field.

In celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March, I spoke to Suzann to find out more about what inspired her to launch VOXA and how she hopes it will #AccelerateAction in women’s golf.

Susann Pettersen reflects on International Women's Day

What inspired you to launch VOXA, and what gap in the industry are you hoping to fill for female athletes?

Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges women athletes face — whether it’s a lack of sponsorship opportunities, lower prize funds, or just not having the same level of visibility as male athletes. The talent is there, the dedication is there, but the support system often isn’t. That’s what we want to change with VOXA. We want to create a platform that truly champions women athletes, helping them to maximise their potential both during and after their careers.

How will VOXA’s approach to athlete management differ from traditional agencies, and what specific support will you offer to elevate female athletes?

The key difference is that VOXA is built specifically with women athletes in mind. Traditional agencies tend to have a one-size-fits-all model, but women in sport face unique challenges that require tailored solutions.

We’re focused on securing the right partnerships, providing career guidance beyond sport, and ensuring financial stability. That means working closely with brands that align with our athletes’ values, providing mentorship, and even helping with post-career planning so they have opportunities when their playing days are over.

Beyond that, VOXA is creating something that women golfers have been missing: A team atmosphere. Golf, like many individual sports, can feel isolating, but we want our athletes to feel like they are part of something bigger – a family. We want to create a culture of unity, where players feel supported professionally and personally. Think of it like a Formula One team — individuals competing under one umbrella, pushing each other to be better while still striving for their own success.

Our goal is to be the best team in golf, period.

Yes, we will handle traditional athlete management, but we are also going to disrupt the industry by putting collaboration and long-term career building at the core of what we do.

Women’s sport is growing rapidly, but there’s still a long way to go in terms of visibility, sponsorship, and financial equity. How do you see VOXA accelerating progress in these areas?

Visibility is everything. The more we can showcase the incredible talent in women’s sport, the more investment we’ll see.

At VOXA, we’re not just managing athletes; we’re actively working to change the narrative around women’s sport.

That means advocating for bigger sponsorship deals, pushing for better media coverage, and creating opportunities for women athletes to be seen, heard, and valued. We want to prove that investing in women’s sport isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s a smart business move.

Looking ahead, what impact do you hope VOXA will have on women’s golf and sport as a whole in the next five to ten years?

I hope VOXA becomes a game-changer. In five to ten years, I want to see more women athletes thriving not just in their sports but in their lives beyond competition. I want to see equal sponsorship opportunities, more investment in women’s leagues, and a shift in how women athletes are perceived and supported. If we can contribute to that change, then VOXA will have done its job.
