News, views and live scores from the first women's Major of 2025, the Chevron Championship held at The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas.
The stage is set for one of the biggest weeks in women’s golf as The Chevron Championship kicks off on Thursday 24 April 2025 at The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas. With a world-class field, increased prize pot, and In Gee Chun and Anna Nordqvist both on the hunt for a Career Grand Slam, there’s plenty for fans to get excited about.
Who's Playing?
The field at this year's Chevron Championship is one of the strongest line-ups of the season, with 24 of the world’s top 25 players making an appearance.
In total, 132 players will tee it up this week, including:
- Defending champion Nelly Korda
- Olympic gold medallist Lydia Ko
- Past winners Lexi Thompson, Lilia Vu, and Stacy Lewis
- 2025 LPGA winners like rising star Ingrid Lindblad
Keep an eye on homegrown favourites too, including Houston native Gurleen Kaur, who’s making her professional debut, and Lauren Coughlin, who finished third last year.
Past Champions Return
Eleven former champions are back in the field, including:
- Lilia Vu – 2023 winner, returning to Carlton Woods after missing last year
- Lydia Ko – 2016 champ and already a winner this season
- Lexi Thompson – 2014 champ
- Brittany Lincicome – retired in 2024, but a two-time winner in 2009 and 2013
- Other past champions: Stacy Lewis, Pernilla Lindberg, Jin Young Ko, Patty Tavatanakit, and Jennifer Kupcho
With so much experience and major-winning pedigree in the field, anything could happen.
Welcome, Rising Stars
The Chevron Championship continues its tradition of welcoming the next generation of stars, with eight top amateurs joining the field:
- Carla Bernat Escuder – 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion
- Lotte Woad – World Amateur No. 1 and 2024 ANWA winner
- Asterisk Talley – ANWA runner-up
- Clarisa Temelo, Jeneath Wong, Chayse Gomez, Jasmine Koo and Gianna Clemente round out the amateur invitations
These young players will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of past amateurs who’ve made their mark on the major stage.
Chasing History
This week offers some players a chance at more than just a Major title, as several stars eye-up the Career Grand Slam — winning four of the five current Majors in their career.
- Brooke Henderson (KPMG Women’s PGA, Amundi Evian) and Minjee Lee (U.S. Women’s Open, Amundi Evian) could each claim a third leg of the Slam with a win.
- In Gee Chun and Anna Nordqvist would complete the Career Grand Slam with a victory here.
- A win in all five majors is called the Super Career Grand Slam — a rare feat in golf.

What’s at Stake?
This year’s prize purse stands at $8 million, with every player guaranteed a $10,000 minimum payout — the highest on the LPGA Tour.
The winner will take home a major cheque, raise the Dinah Shore Trophy, and complete the traditional leap into the lake by the 18th green.
The Results: Mao Saigo Claims First Major in Historic Five-Way Playoff
In one of the most dramatic finishes in LPGA Tour history, Mao Saigo emerged victorious at the 2025 Chevron Championship following a record-breaking five-way playoff—the largest in major championship history.
Saigo, who began the final round co-leading and shot a two-over-par 74, sealed her maiden LPGA Tour win and first major title with a birdie on the first playoff hole. The 23-year-old from Japan showed nerves of steel, finding the fairway, receiving free relief after overshooting the green, and calmly chipping to three feet before sinking the winning putt.
Her victory makes her the first Japanese player to win The Chevron Championship and the 46th player to earn their first LPGA title at a major. Saigo now joins an elite group of Rolex First-Time Winners and propels herself into the top five in the Race to the CME Globe.
