Paradise Island Adventure Golf's family-friendly adventure golf outlets take up Scottish Golf membership as a non-traditional facility
Paradise Island Adventure Golf and Scottish Golf have agreed a partnership that marks the start of a new direction for the governing body, as voted on by members at the 2024 AGM. Qualifying facilities – defined as venues that deliver golf experiences but are not golf clubs in the traditional sense – can now affiliate to Scottish Golf and take advantage of many of the products and services it provides.
These include funding opportunities, safeguarding support, participation initiatives, and a certification of affiliation.
Paradise Island Adventure Golf has two sites in Scotland – Livingston and Glasgow – and delivers golf in a fun, family-friendly and accessible way. They also have a further six sites across the rest of the UK.
Glasgow was the first site to open its doors in 2006, and all Paradise Island venues offer two 18-hole indoor golf courses over 13,000 square feet, with detailed theming playing a vital role the providing twists, turns and humps as part of the journey.
A great taste of golf for all ages
Joshua Dantzic, Director, Paradise Island Adventure Golf commented:
"We are very pleased to join forces with Scottish Golf to promote the sport in the Home of Golf. Paradise Island Adventure Golf provides a great taste of golf for all ages and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring in supporting the development of the sport."
Scottish Golf is the national governing body for the amateur game of golf in Scotland, and has recently completed recruitment of six Regional Development Managers (RDMs) across the East, Central, West, South-West, North and North-East.
Chris Lumsden, (RDM for East) and Callum Imray (RDM for West) have been instrumental in establishing this new partnership with Paradise Island, and added:
Part of our remit in the regions is providing connections and identifying opportunities for clubs to collaborate with like-minded organisations, all of whom are on a mission to grow and develop the game. With sites in both the East and West regions, Paradise Island are perfectly placed to kick us off - conversations have been really positive and we are all really excited to see what comes of the partnership.
Engaging new golf audiences
Robbie Clyde, CEO of Scottish Golf, added:
"Paradise Island is a fantastic example of a successful organisation, engaging new audiences in our sport in an innovative, fun and social way. We know that new audiences for on-course golf exist out there and may not be aware of how closely aligned adventure golf and, say, putting on a green really are. We hope to be able to partner with Paradise Island in a number of ways – through coaching, junior programmes, engaging junior girls in golf – and likewise, we can talk to their diverse audience groups, make connections to golf clubs around Scotland and grow our game for the future. "
As part of the new partnership, Paradise Island will be offering discounts to the 210,000 Scottish Golf members around Scotland. Paradise Island will be running a competition in the coming weeks, and anyone who has a Scottish Golf ID will be receiving news of this very soon.
