In this month's Golf Travel blog, Breanne looks back to April and the pilgrimage that many golf fans make to Augusta National

As golf travel specialists, we’ve been fortunate to explore some of the world's most prestigious courses and tournaments. But nothing quite prepares you for the sheer magnificence of The Masters.

Nestled in the heart of Augusta, Georgia, this iconic event is more than just a golf tournament; it's a pilgrimage for golf enthusiasts worldwide.

We are very proud to have a knowledgeable 'Tournament & Events' team at Golf Travel Group with over 35 years of Masters experience under their belts. I asked a couple of them to share their stories.

Tom Francis recalls his first time experiencing this prestigious event:

“The Masters is like nothing I have experienced before. The excitement started from the moment I parked my car and started making my way to the entry gate. The course is pristine and nothing is out of place, it doesn't quite feel real! The thing that strikes you most is the elevation changes on the course and you start to appreciate just how tough it is when you see the greens.

"The staff and Patrons are all so polite and it's refreshing to see so many thousands of fans taking in the golf… and not a mobile phone in sight - bliss!!”

2024 Masters Championship

Gareth Llewellyn shares his experience from attending the 2024 Masters with our Golf Travel Group clients:

“Despite having been here over a dozen times, every time I enter the grounds of Augusta National Golf Club, I become enveloped in a sense of reverence and awe. The attention to detail, from the immaculately manicured fairways to the vibrant azaleas lining the course, is truly unparalleled.

"Walking alongside the towering pine trees, you can’t help but feel a profound sense of history. You soon realise you are standing on sacred ground, a place where dreams are made and history is written.

"As a golf travel specialist, I have the privilege of sharing this unforgettable experience every year with our clients and the feedback is always nothing short of ecstatic. "It's like Disneyland for adults" was my favourite this year and so accurate.

"For many of them, attending The Masters was a lifelong dream come true, a bucket-list item that exceeded all expectations.

"Whether they were cheering on their favourite players or simply soaking in the beauty of the surroundings, there is always a sense of unity and mutual respect for Augusta National itself - it is truly captivating."

Augusta National Women's Amateur

We also booked a group who attended the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) the week before. They mentioned how they were swept away by the sheer talent and passion on display and how the atmosphere was electric. There are fewer crowds than the Masters, and spectators still benefit from merchandise shops and can enjoy the famous Pimento Cheese Sandwich.
