Recently Golf Travel Centre hosted a group to Dubai and Abu Dhabi; a mix of PGA Professionals, celebrities and social media influencers - joining us were Nicky Lawrenson PGA, Jamie Crocker PGA, YouTubers GolfSupply, Lauren Taylor from the Ladies European Tour, and Phil Jagielka, former Everton F.C captain.
For this particular familiarisation trip, the whole group where able to experience why the UAE is the ultimate destination for golf holidays, blending pristine fairways with superb hotels and mind-blowing off-course activities.
Q&A with LET Professional Lauren Taylor
Once we had returned, I caught up with Lauren Taylor to find out what she thought of the UAE and whether she would be recommending the destination to other female golfers, whether for a golf holiday or a coaching trip with a PGA Professional.
What was your first impression of Dubai and Abu Dhabi as golf destinations?
Lauren Taylor: Both cities are absolutely stunning. Dubai feels like a golfer’s playground with its luxurious atmosphere, while Abu Dhabi offers a mix of tradition and modern chic that adds a unique charm to the experience. The golf courses reflect the personality of each destination so well and are PERFECTLY manicured - honestly, it's like playing off carpet.
Which golf courses did you play during the trip, and which one stood out the most?
We played some of the best courses in the UAE, including Emirates Golf Club, and Dubai Hills. We also got to play night golf which was an amazing experience - we all loved it! Yas Links really stood out for me, sea view from most of the holes - it’s challenging but a course every golfer should have on their bucket list.
Beyond the golf courses, what stood out to you about the overall experience?
The hospitality in the UAE is unrivalled. From the luxurious clubhouses to the welcoming staff, everything was designed to make you feel special. UAE has many non-golf experiences to enjoy, like desert safaris and dining at top restaurants, shopping and the most incredible beach clubs. I would highly recommend booking a Saturday afternoon beach club brunch - the perfect way to relax.
For women golfers specifically, how welcoming and accessible were the courses and facilities?
Very welcoming! The courses cater to players of all levels and make a real effort to ensure inclusivity. The practice facilities are excellent, and the staff go out of their way to make sure everyone feels comfortable.
After this trip, would you recommend Dubai and Abu Dhabi as must-visit destinations for women golfers?
Absolutely! Both cities offer an incredible blend of world-class golf, luxury, and culture. Whether you’re travelling with a group or solo, it’s an experience that will leave you with lasting memories. In fact, I have committed to spending the winter over in Dubai - honestly, I couldn't place myself in a more perfect destination for the winter, as I prepare for next year on the Ladies European Tour.
