Golf podcasts to keep you entertained, informed and fully immersed in the game throughout the year.

Golf podcasts are a brilliant way of further immersing ourselves in our favourite game.

If you haven't tried one yet, now is the perfect time to explore what they have to offer.

Podcasts are particularly useful when we can't always get out onto the course as often as we'd like (or not at all in some cases), and when we need ways to keep ourselves amused at home - basically, they're perfect lockdown entertainment.

So, if you're not sure where to start on your golf podcast journey but you're looking for something to help get you through Lockdown 3.0, check out our favourites below.

1. No Laying Up

No Laying Up is a golf podcast that first began as a Twitter feed. Now it has a spin-off podcast, a merchandise area, a video travelogue channel, a travel company, a subscription-only area, and an online forum. The NLU team quit their day jobs to focus on the podcasts and various spin offs and the move has certainly paid off. The enthusiastic and funny presenters love to celebrate the good parts of the game but equally, they don’t shy away from highlighting the rather frequent absurdities that crop up. Aired twice a week it includes tournament recaps, interviews, player recaps, travel ideas and more. The latest one featuring former Golf Channel presenter Lisa Cornwell looks very interesting and famous fans include former LET star and Women & Golf instructor Sophie Walker.

2. The Good-Good Golf Podcast

The Good-Good Golf Podcast is a reincarnation of the ‘iSeekGolf’ podcast hosted by Rod Morri, Adrian Logue, and Derek Duncan. Describing itself as ‘golf talk for the serious golfer’, the GGG team hosts slightly fewer interviews and conversations regarding the current Tours compared to some other golf podcasts. However, the GGG hosts are intelligent and offer great insights when debating the current position and future development of the game. Rod has an excellent interviewing style, Adrian is the unashamed intellectual, and Derek Duncan offers strong credentials from the world of golf course architecture.

3. The Cut: The BBC Golf Podcast

The Cut is a relatively new golf podcast produced by BBC golf correspondent Ian Carter and golf commentator Andrew Cotter. With a big focus on the professional Tours they report live from events as often as they can, and highlights include their great interviews from Major tournaments (such as Laura Davies at the 2020 AIG Women’s Open). The European players in particular seem to have a good relationship with both the presenters and this leads to some very relaxed and thoughtful interviews.

4. McKellar Golf Podcast

This podcast is hosted by journalist and columnist Lawrence Donegan of the McKellar Golf Journal.  Each week he is joined by co-hosts such as leading golf journalist John Huggan and New York Post journalist Mark Cannizzaro, to discuss current golf affairs and sometimes more wider topics. The hosts are not afraid to highlight the ridiculous things that go on in the world of golf and criticise anything that they disagree with. This only makes them more likeable and the podcasts more refreshing.

5. Golf Weekly

Golf Weekly is an Irish-based weekly podcast primarily covering current professional events and debating various topical subjects. Hosted by four OTB Sports journalists the presenters have a nice sense of humour with a bit of a biting edge. Released every weekend the hosts spend a lot of time analysing the past week’s events and previewing the current week.

6. Golf Club Talk UK

Mainly aimed at those working in the golf industry or those involved with the running of golf clubs, lead host Eddie Bullock is a huge supporter of the women's game. Passionate and knowledgeable about the industry at all levels, there's still lots to interest club golfers like you. His guests range from professionals, industry officials, golf club managers and even media figures like the Women & Golf team themselves (that was episode 26, just FYI). Make sure you check it out.
