Wales Golf has a new management team in place, with changes to the Development Department to capitalise on modern demands.

The new Wales Golf senior management structure is designed to reflect the areas laid out in the latest Wales Golf strategy, Everyone’s Game, such as grant support, facilities and sustainability.

“Our aim was to ensure that the staff roles within the Development Department better align with delivering our strategic focus areas,” explained Wales Golf Chief Executive Hannah McAllister.

“Providing grant support for clubs, developing facilities, and promoting sustainability, is becoming increasingly essential for clubs.

“These areas are also becoming more complex, require more resources, and need more focus, so these appointments reflect our commitment to these areas.”

The new structure comprises a Head of Participation and Club Governance, Theo Baker, and a Head of Facilities and Sustainability, Dilwyn Griffiths.

As Head of Participation and Club Governance, Baker is responsible for managing the participation and club governance team and department.

Whereas Griffiths, Head of Facilities and Sustainability, is responsible for developing and implementing facilities and sustainability strategies for both the organisation and golf in Wales.

Griffiths is also a fluent Welsh speaker and will serve as a lead for Welsh language implementation.

“We utilised the existing team's skill set to fill these roles and provide opportunities for career progression,” said McAllister.

“Additionally, we created a new national manager position, which focuses on supporting club governance. Sophie joined Wales Golf in September and has been an excellent addition to our team!”

Sophie Hancocks, Wales Golf’s newly appointed Club Governance Manager, supports golf clubs across Wales with governance guidance, supporting structural and administration challenges and business support.
