Sentosa Golf Club, host venue of the HSBC Women’s World Championship, announces sponsorship of Singapore’s Shannon Tan.
Shannon Tan is the top-ranked professional golfer in Singapore and the 6th player to be sponsored by the 12-time HSBC Women’s World Championship venue, Sentosa Golf Club.
The partnership reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and its dedication to elevating Singapore’s presence on the global golfing stage.
Sentosa Golf Club will continue to play an integral part in Shannon’s career development, offering access to its world-class practice facilities and two iconic courses: The Serapong and The Tanjong. The ongoing collaboration aims to provide her with the resources and environment to continue her rise in the professional game.
Sentosa Golf Club also acknowledges the commitment other Singapore Golf Clubs have given to her in the early stages of her career.
Andrew Johnston, General Manager, Director of Agronomy, and Resident Golf Course Designer at Sentosa Golf Club, said: “Shannon is a great addition to our sponsored player program. Her achievements exemplify the spirit of determination and excellence we value at the Club. We are ready to support her journey as she continues to break barriers and inspire the next generation of Singaporean golfers.”
“Training at Sentosa Golf Club’s world-class facilities is an incredible opportunity. The access to such a prestigious venue, including The Serapong and The Tanjong courses, will be invaluable in sharpening my game whenever I return to Singapore,” added Shannon Tan. “This partnership is instrumental in supporting my ongoing development and helping me strive for greater success on the global stage.”
Shannon Tan's rise to fame
Shannon has enjoyed a meteoric rise since securing her Ladies European Tour card as an amateur at Q-School in December 2023. After turning professional at the start of 2024, she made an immediate impact on the Tour by winning her debut event, the Magical Kenya Ladies Open. Her stellar performances throughout the season culminated in a 6thplace finish in the LET’s Order of Merit rankings.
She also made history as the first Singaporean golfer to compete at the Olympics and make the cut at a Major Championship, an accomplishment achieved during the 2024 Women’s British Open at St. Andrews.
Now after a well-deserved winter break, Shannon has taken her impressive form into the start of her second season on the Ladies European Tour with a 3rd place finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup, the season-opener in Morocco. Her strong showing was followed by a top half finish at the PIF Saudi Ladies International.
Returning to her roots in the ‘Lion City’, she will tee it up at this week’s HSBC Women’s World Championship. The tournament, one of the marquee events on the LPGA Tour, will see Tan compete alongside fellow Sentosa Golf Club-sponsored golfer Chen Xingtong , who secured her spot after winning the national qualifier.
