Isn’t it annoying when you play to the edge of the green, only to thin it. As Women & Golf instructor Samantha Head explains you don't have to thin it to win it.

Isn’t it annoying when you play to the edge of the green and then thin a chip shot across the other side?

A thinned chip happens for various reasons, but mainly because the wrists break too early through the ball as golfers try to scoop it in the air (pictured above).

A good practice drill to prevent this from happening is to take the left hand off the club (right-handed golfers) and swing with the right arm only. Remember to swing with your shoulders; keeping your right upper arm close to your body as this will help the right side to get through the shot.

Keep the backswing length and follow through the same to help develop a consistent short game. Remember that the length of your backswing will determine how far the shot goes.
