Spending a fortune on equipment is not always the answer to your golfing woes! You CAN achieve better results for FREE by making different decisions.
Golfers make basic course management errors by being too adventurous when they are out of position, so here are some tips for a stress-free round.
Blind Shots
If possible, always walk forward to see your target. Draw a straight line back from the target to your golf ball and pick a spot on the ground in front of your ball where you see the line - shown here with a tee peg in the ground.
Tee Up From The Trouble
Use the teeing ground to your advantage by placing your ball on the same side as the hazards. This will help you to aim away from trouble. Also, if you shape the ball right to left then tee up on the right hand side of the tee box, a natural drawer of the ball will tee up on the left side.
Avoid A Splash
Don’t aim directly over water as this is too risky. Pick a spot in front of the green and left of the water. Play to this area so the hazard is eliminated. KEY MESSAGE – If you can strike 7 out of 10 balls over the water and close to the flag, then it’s worth the risk, otherwise play for position.
No Heroics
When you are out of position, for example, behind a tree, don’t risk hitting the tree and taking unnecessary extra shots. Chip out sideways and play the percentage shot.
