Three ball positions control trajectory
Playing the ball back (near trail heel) produces a lower, running chip; middle gives more height and less roll; forward (near lead heel) creates the highest, softest shot.
Hand position works in combination with ball position
Hands forward with ball back reduces loft for a bump-and-run, hands in line with ball in the middle adds loft, and hands behind the ball with it forward creates maximum loft for a flop-style shot.
Keep the triangle and eliminate wrist action
Whichever combination you choose, the key is to maintain the Y-shape formed by your arms and club throughout the swing, letting your hands and core drive the motion without hinging or releasing.
