If you have been watching the Winter Olympics, this might have whet your appetite for some action in the snow. For a unique experience golfers can put themselves to the test in Swedish Lapland.
One of the world's northernmost and spectacular golf courses is located in Björkliden, 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle.
During the winter season, there is the opportunity to experience the unique feeling of playing on a completely new and difference surface – snow. The greens are transformed to ‘whites’ and golf balls are fluorescent orange.
You also have the chance to play golf in the middle of the night under the magical northern lights with luminous golf balls that can be seen from several hundred metres away.
Golfers can put themselves to the test on the 9 hole course, which has a ‘moderately difficult’ rating and a mixture of compacted snow which form the ‘whites’ and untouched show for the fairways and beyond.
The course is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8pm – 12pm and Saturdays from 1pm – 6pm during the months of December, January, February and March.
These spectacular settings combined creates at truly unique golf product that isn’t found anywhere else in the world — a once in a lifetime golf experience in Europe’s last wilderness!
