It's safe to say we all had a great time at the Ricoh Women's British Open last week, as Ariya Jutanugarn earned her first major title. Here's six things we learnt at Woburn Golf Club.

Charley Hull Has The Potential To Win A Major

The week may have proved a disappointing one for home hopeful Charley Hull, with the twenty-year-old eventually finishing T-11, but her brilliance on Sunday, when she carded seven birdies in 12 holes, demonstrated that she has the potential to go all the way at a major championship in the near future.

Ariya Jutanugarn Is Going To Be A Superstar

It’s hard to believe that Ariya Jutanugarn had missed ten cuts in a row at the same point in the season last year. Yesterday she proved that she is to be considered on a par with leading lights Lydia Ko and Brooke Henderson at the very pinnacle of the game. Having now risen to world number three, Jutanugarn showed a composure way beyond her years on the way to her first major title and looks set to be competing at the top of the game for many years to come.

The Girls Can’t Wait For Rio

With so much negativity surrounding golf’s re-introduction into the Olympics it was refreshing to see the enthusiasm displayed by the women this week about the upcoming Games. Only one eligible player in the field at Woburn, South Africa’s Lee-Ann Pace, has decided not to travel to the event, which gets underway on the 17 August, and all of the game’s top names, including Jutanugarn, expressed their excitement about getting on the plane to Rio.

Shanshan Feng Wears The Trousers

Whether she’s the best dressed lady on tour might be debatable, if China’s world number owns the week's most garish set of trousers is undisputable.

British Fans Are The Best

If there was one thing on which the player’s appeared in unanimous agreement, it was that the British fans are amongst the most knowledgeable and respectable that they have the pleasure to play in front of. With the men uttering the same sentiment at Troon a few weeks back, who are we to disagree.

Hurry Up Girls

We may get tired of discussing slow play on a weekly basis, but not nearly as tired as we got watching the girl’s dragging their heels around the greens. The competitor’s tendency to mark, read and then line-up (sometimes multiple times) putts that even us mere amateurs would consider no more than tap-in’s appeared at times plain ludicrous.
