Scottish teenager Karis Davidson, 16 has confirmed her status as the No 1 Under-18 girl golfer in Australia by winning the Queensland girls' championship at Virginia and Nudgdee Golf Clubs.
Scottish teenager Karis Davidson, 16, from Innerleithen in the Tweed Valley of the Border country, has confirmed her status as the No 1 Under-18 girl golfer in Australia by winning the Queensland girls' championship at Virginia and Nudgdee Golf Clubs.
Karis broke the course record with a five-under-par 68 in the final round to finish four shots clear of the field with a six-under-par aggregate of 285.
Her earlier scores were 72, 71 and 74. She was tied for the lead with one round to go.
Karis and her parents emigrated to Queensland from Scotland in 2008. She is the highest rated Scots-born female player in the Women's World Amateur Rankings at No 62.
She would have been eligible to play for Great Britain and Ireland in next month's Astor Cup international team match-play tournament at Adelaide but her mother Faye said that they had decided Karis's golfing future lay in Australia and, because of that, she would decline any invitation to play for GB&I.
