Rory McIlroy delivered a spectacular performance at The Open Championship to claim the Claret Jug, winning by two shots Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia. Rory dedicated his win to his mum!

Rory McIlroy delivered a spectacular performance at The Open Championship to claim the Claret Jug and become the seventh player in history to win the famous trophy in wire-to-wire fashion.

McIlroy is an impressive three-quarters of the way to winning the career Grand Slam at the age of 25 – the third youngest player ever to achieve that record.

"The Open is the one that we all want and the one that we all strive for and to be able to hold this Claret Jug is an incredible feeling," said McIlroy in the closing ceremony.

It was the first time his mother had been in attendance after Rory had won a Major and he added, “This one is for you mum.”
