Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, which was voted Spain’s Best Golf Course at the 2015 World Golf Awards and has been nominated for the award again in 2016, is all set to host its annual showpiece, the Copa Las Colinas, next week.

Teams from some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs have qualified for the two-round event, which takes place from 11-13 September. UK celebrity Denise van Outen will also be taking part in the tournament as Las Colinas representative, with partner Eddie Boxshall joining the stage, screen and radio star on the home team. Along with the other participants, van Outen will be staying on site at Las Colinas, which was this week named Spain’s Leading Villa Resort at the 2016 World Travel Awards.

Among the clubs to be sending teams to take part in the Copa Las Colinas is four-time Ryder Cup host venue and Las Colinas’s fellow World Golf Award winner The Belfry, which last year was named England’s Best Golf Hotel and also claimed the England’s Best Golf Course crown for its Brabazon Course. Other UK clubs to be represented in the tournament following their own internal qualifying events are The Centurion Club, Stoke Park Country Club and Goodwood.

Gardagolf Country Club in Italy completes the trio of teams representing 2015 World Golf Award winners at the Copa Las Colinas. It was named Italy’s Best Golf Course at last year’s ceremony. Other top-quality European clubs sending teams are Ternesse Golf & Country Club near Antwerp in Belgium and Château d’Augerville just outside the Paris in France.

The Copa Las Colinas teams will arrive at the club for a welcome function on Sunday before taking to the Cabell Robinson-designed course for the opening round the following morning. The tournament will run as a team Stableford competition, with the best two individual scores from each hole to count. Scores will be aggregated after the two rounds and Denise van Outen will be on hand to hand out the prizes after play concludes on Tuesday.
