Two sets of twin sisters have joined the Junior Academy at LET player Inci Mehmet's home club.

Royal Mid-Surrey PGA professional Alice Hiluta must constantly think she is seeing double these days.

The picturesque club has just welcomed two sets off twin girls into the Junior Academy, and all four young ladies are aiming to secure their first ever handicaps this year.

Alice, who joined the team at Royal Mid-Surrey two years ago, said:

“It was difficult to tell them apart at first, but it's easier now I’ve got to know them and they’re so enthusiastic about the game and wanting to improve.”

The youngest twins – 12-year-old Alice and Maeve Mote – have been involved at the club for the past four years, while 13-year-old Georgia and Maddie Parker started coming to the club with their parents when they were four years old.

Alice and Maeve love that the sport is something they can do as a family.

Alice said:

“Golf is great fun and we’ve often played foursomes matches here with our mother and older brother. But we decided to take the game more seriously a year ago and we have joined the Academy to gain our handicaps.”

Like many of us, Maeve also enjoys being able to reward herself for her practicing by having a nice meal after.

“We really enjoy the exercise it gives us too, especially if we can have lunch afterwards.”

Meanwhile, Georgia and Maddie cite Charley Hull as their favourite golfer.

Georgia said:

“We’ve played a lot with our parents, both at Royal Mid-Surrey and at Elie near St Andrews, in pairs matches. We both have a good long game, but have a lot to improve on around the greens.”

With 365 female members, Royal Mid-Surrey has the largest women’s section in the country.

It has produced many great players over the years, including Ladies European Tour and Rose Ladies Series competitior Inci Mehmet and England Girls player Rafiah Banday.
