A 16-year-old Scottish girl, Karis Davidson, has won the Suncoast Ladies Open - one of Queensland's biggest women's amateur golf tournaments over 54 holes.

Equalling the Headland Golf Course women's record of two-under-par 71 in the final round, Davidson won the prestigious title by one stroke.

She is now ranked the number one girl golfer in Australia and number fifty-three in the Women's World Amateur Rankings.

There is a very good chance that she will be selected for Australia's team of five for next month's Astor Trophy itnernational women's team match-play tournament at Adelaide.

Innerleithen-born Davidson emigrated with her parents to Queensland seven years ago.
