Defending champions GB&I bounced back from their 4-3 opening-day defeat by New Zealand with a 6-1 victory over South Africa on Day 2 of the Astor Trophy tournament in Adelaide, Australia.

Defending champions Great Britain and Ireland bounced back from their 4-3 opening-day defeat by New Zealand with a 6-1 victory over South Africa on Day 2 of the Astor Trophy team match-play tournament at Grange Golf Club, Adelaide, South Australia. Australia beat New Zealand 4-3 and lead the table with two wins out of two.

GB and I took a grip on the outcome of their match against South Africa by winning both the morning foursomes through the same partnerships as on Day 1 - Bronte Law and Chloe Williams (3 and 1), and Charlotte Thomas and Hayley Davis (6 and 5).

Bramhall's Bronte Law maintained her 100 per cent record through four sessions of play by winning the top singles by one hole against Bertine Strauss. GB and I took the singles 4-1 with additional wins by Scot Connie Jaffrey (6 and 5), Charlotte Thomas (3 and 2) and Hayley Davis (6 and 4).
GB and I's only singles loser was Wales' Chloe Williams (4 and 3).

Australia trailed by 1pt after the foursomes against New Zealand but made up the deficit with three wins and a halved match in the singles.

GB and I play Canada on Wednesday and then complete their programme of four matches against hosts Australia on Thursday before their "rest day" on Friday.
