Women-specific putter launches remain relatively rare, but Wilson Golf has added two dedicated women’s models to its Infinite Zero Torque range – The 606 and Lakeview.
When a golf brand launches equipment specifically for women, it tends to get our attention. Not because women necessarily need fundamentally different golf clubs, but because dedicated specifications – rather than simply adapting an existing product – can give golfers more relevant choices.
That makes the arrival of two new women’s putters from Wilson interesting.
The Wilson Women’s Zero Torque The 606 and Lakeview use the same Zero Torque technology as the Infinite models launched earlier this year, but come in a dedicated 33-inch configuration, with a Wilson Premium Midsize grip and gold detailing in place of the red accents found on the existing models.
So, what exactly are women golfers getting?
What is Zero Torque?
Zero Torque putters are designed to reduce the amount the putter face wants to rotate during the stroke.
In Wilson’s design, the centre of gravity is positioned so that the shaft axis passes directly through it. The aim is to apply virtually no torque to the golfer’s hands and help the face remain square to the target for longer.
It’s a relatively simple proposition: less unwanted face rotation should make it easier to start putts on the intended line consistently.
Both women’s models also have 1° of forward shaft lean, intended to encourage the correct hand position through impact. The heads are manufactured using Metal Injection Moulding (MIM), which allows Wilson to create the shapes and precise mass positioning required by the Zero Torque design.
A double-milled face completes the package, designed to provide consistent feel and roll even when the strike moves away from the centre.
The 606 or Lakeview?
There are two head shapes, and the most obvious difference is in their looks and alignment systems.
The 606 is a compact winged mallet. Two alignment lines frame the golf ball, with an additional alignment dot providing a clear reference at address. Lakeview has a cleaner half-moon mallet shape and a single alignment line for golfers who prefer a less busy look behind the ball.
The Zero Torque construction is common to both, so choosing between them is largely about which shape and alignment system suits your eye.
So, what makes them women’s putters?
Wilson hasn’t developed a different version of its Zero Torque technology for women. Instead, it has taken the same engineering and offered it in a dedicated 33-inch build, together with a midsize grip and different cosmetic treatment.
Putter length shouldn’t be determined by gender alone – your height, posture, arm position and putting set-up all matter – and a putter fitting remains the best way to establish what works for you.
But having a 33-inch model available as standard gives women who suit a shorter putter another off-the-shelf option without having to alter a longer model.
And in an equipment market where genuinely dedicated women’s launches remain limited, we’re pleased to see another major manufacturer giving women golfers more choice.
