Alison Jones’s side went unbeaten through the round robin at Dunfermline Golf Club to reclaim the trophy they last lifted in 2002.
Stirling and Clackmannan have been crowned Scottish Women’s County champions for the first time since 2002, after finishing the round robin series at Dunfermline Golf Club unbeaten.
The county beat defending champions Scottish Golf North 7-2, halved with Renfrewshire 4.5-4.5, then closed out the title with a 6-3 win over Dumfriesshire. North finished runner-up, with Renfrewshire third and Dumfriesshire fourth.
It is the county’s first Finals appearance since 2002, when they won the title for the second year running.
A team built on individual form
Two of the eight-strong squad arrived at the Finals off the back of national titles. Stirling’s Erin Huskie, 18, won the Scottish Women’s Amateur in May, and clubmate Alison Davidson, a former Curtis Cup player, took the Scottish Senior Women’s Open in June.
They were joined by Jennie Allan (Glenbervie), Laura Bissett (Braehead Alloa), Eva Woodward (Linlithgow), Ava Paterson (Tulliallan), Erin Macalpine (Glenbervie) and Margo Gardner (West Lothian).
Captain Jones said the team’s camaraderie was central to the win: “It’s unbelievable. I’m so proud of the team. To lift the plaque tonight after 24 years was simply amazing. Everyone gets on and the camaraderie and the fun, we all have fun, that really helps. It’s been 24 years, but so worth the wait.”
