La Grande Mare’s redeveloped 18-hole course opens on 1 August.
La Grande Mare’s new 18-hole golf course in Guernsey will open on Saturday 1 August, with tee times available to book from 22 June on a pay-and-play basis. Green fees will be £200 per round, with no membership required.
The course has been redesigned by European Golf Design, the firm behind several Ryder Cup and European Tour venues, and now measures 5,367 yards as a par-69 layout. Original soil and turf were retained where possible, alongside new drainage and irrigation systems intended to keep the course playable year-round.
Built to Ryder Cup standard
Architect Robin Hiseman said the greens have been built to the same specification as Adare Manor, the venue for next year’s Ryder Cup. He added that the layout offers a strategic test unlike any other short 18-hole course in the British Isles.
La Grande Mare’s Golf Performance Centre, which opened in November 2025 with simulator bays and a club-fitting studio, will serve as an interim clubhouse until the development’s country club opens.
What’s next
Managing director Ben Stimson, who joined the project in April, will oversee the course’s opening and the completion of the country club, due in 2027. The club will include a pro shop, dining and bar facilities, and accommodation alongside a gym, pool and restaurant.
Owner Stephen Lansdown CBE said the redevelopment was designed to build on the site’s existing character rather than change it.
