Accommodation

The Eastbury Hotel offers a variety of accommodations for different size groups.  There are 27 bedrooms and suites available within the former Georgian residence. Plus, five tastefully converted Victorian ‘Potting Shed Suites’.  However, if you prefer doing your own thing, there’s the 3-bedroom Eastbury Cottage which adjoins the hotel.  The cottage has been beautifully restored. It maintains many original features to provide perfect home-from-home accommodation. This includes a private garden, its own hot tub, and a barbeque area.  The hotel’s restaurant is always available of course if you prefer.

The Potting Shed Suites are located within the award-winning and picturesque walled garden.  All stylishly decorated with folding doors out onto the private terrace where you can relax and sample the sloe gin provided by the hotel for all its guests.  There are also spacious wet room facilities and a tea/coffee-making area for that morning cuppa before you venture out.

Tucked away at the bottom of the walled garden, and out of sight of the main house, lies The Eastbury’s boutique spa. A maximum of four people can enjoy exclusive use of the spa facilities and revitalise their bodies in the hydrotherapy tub, take a dip in the jacuzzi hot tub and shower and finish off with a cleansing sauna.  The perfect remedy for those aching limbs after a challenging game of golf!  And, for those of you who enjoy something a little more strenuous, there’s even a mini gym.

Molly and her team in the spa can also offer guests an extensive range of body treatments using natural handmade skincare products from Dorset-based GAIA, whose ingredients are thoughtfully selected for their beneficial properties for the body and mind.  Take it from us, you’ll feel like a million dollars when you leave the spa!

Points of interest

Without a doubt, Sherborne is one of the most beautiful towns in this part of England.  The quintessentially English town is a peaceful haven where you can relax and lose yourself in the surrounding Dorset countryside.  It’s steeped in history with ancient buildings in amongst a wide range of modern-day and local shops, restaurants, and coffee bars. A magnificent Abbey, which has free access during the day, is lit up in the evening providing a perfect setting for a nighttime stroll around the town.

Golf

Sherborne Golf Club, Dorset

A short seven-minute drive from the Eastbury Hotel is Sherborne Golf Club. Here Eastbury guests can experience the 18-hole parkland, James Braid designed course at an exclusive rate.  But be warned! The friendly welcome you will receive in the clubhouse and pro shop will not prepare you for what lies in store!

The well-maintained golf course with gorgeous views over the Blackmore Vale to the south and Glastonbury Tor to the north is like a sleeping giant.  Playing from the front red tees, the course is 5840 yards long. Strategically placed bunkers are just one of the many challenges to deal with.  It has three memorable Par-3 holes, each one requiring good club selection and a good strike off the tee.  But watch out! From hole no.12 the course shows its teeth. With sloping lies, some raised and hidden greens, and narrow fairways it provides a great golfing challenge to the best of players!

Sherborne Golf Club really is a hidden gem. It is one that every golfer, whatever their level, should play given the opportunity.
