Imagine teeing it up at Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart with a professional on your team. The inaugural Highland Golf Links Women’s Pro-Am offers a compelling reason to gather your golfing friends for a Scottish escape in May 2027.
Most golf holidays give you the chance to play somewhere special. A pro-am adds another attraction: the opportunity to share the experience with a professional, rather than simply watch one from outside the ropes.
For women who have wondered what it would be like to enter one, the inaugural Highland Golf Links Women’s Pro-Am offers a tempting setting. Taking place from 3–5 May 2027, it combines three celebrated Scottish courses with a team competition and a reason to gather your golfing friends for something beyond the usual annual trip.
The professional element changes the character of the occasion. You are taking part in the same event, seeing the game played at close quarters and contributing to a team effort. That is the appeal here, alongside a course line-up that could justify a Highland journey in its own right.
Three courses, one competition
The event is planned for 36 teams of four, with tournament rounds rotating between Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands.
Royal Dornoch’s Championship Course brings the coastal setting of the Dornoch Firth. At Nairn, the women’s game has its own place in the club’s story: it hosted the Curtis Cup in 2012. Castle Stuart, meanwhile, has staged the Scottish Open four times and offers sweeping views across the Moray Firth.
For readers travelling from the United States, the combination makes an appealing focus for a longer Scottish itinerary. Three tournament rounds provide the structure; additional days allow time to settle in, explore and enjoy the journey without rushing straight from the airport to the first tee.
What does the entry fee include?
Entry costs £3,180 per team, including VAT. That covers a round on each course, the opening reception, a gift bag for each amateur and hospitality on all three competition days.
The organiser lists breakfast rolls with tea or coffee, a halfway snack and soft drink, and lunch with a drink afterwards. Nearest-the-pin prizes and daily amateur and professional sweeps are also included.
Accommodation is not included. Flights, travel between venues and any additional activities need to be considered separately when working out the full trip budget.
Optional practice rounds are planned for Sunday 2 May at approximately £500 per tee time. Confirm the available course when enquiring: Royal Dornoch’s practice option is listed as the Struie, rather than the Championship Course.

Make time for the Highlands
The launch release names Links House in Dornoch, Kingsmills Hotel and Culloden House in Inverness as hotel partners. It also suggests ways to extend the trip, from a Loch Ness cruise to whisky tasting or exploring local textiles.
These are options to investigate when planning your stay, rather than experiences included in the tournament fee.
Before committing, ask the organisers about handicap eligibility, how the professional joins your team, the scoring format and cancellation terms. The event website is currently inviting registrations of interest, so enquire about places rather than assume a booking is confirmed.
For a group looking for a special golf trip in 2027, the attraction is more than collecting three famous course names. It is the prospect of arriving as amateur golfers and stepping into a pro-am together.
