Catriona Matthew, Team Europe captain for the 2021 Solheim Cup, tells Editor Harriet Shephard why she's feeling confident for September.

Catriona, speaking from her home gym at her house in North Berwick (right by the golf course of course), was in a great mood as she chatted to me about all things Solheim.

Catriona played for Team Europe an amazing nine times before taking on the role of Captain and leading her squad to their famous victory at Gleneagles in 2019.

An utterly incredible spectacle from start to finish, the 2019 hosting of the Solheim in Scotland was the highest attended women’s golf event ever held in the UK and the most widely watched on television.

If Europe win again this year, she will be Europe’s first multiple Solheim Cup-winning captain, and I don't know about you but I think she might just do it.

Why Catriona is feeling confident

Catching up with the Women's British Open winner over Zoom, she seemed happy and relaxed as she explained why she's feeling optimistic that Team Europe can win again this year, the difference between home and away games and why Suzann Pettersen's winning putt will forever be one of the greatest moments in sport.

So, sit back and enjoy the first in our series of video interviews with one of Britain's most famous female golfers.

It was such a great honour to talk to Catriona and I'm now even more excited about this year's Solheim, taking place at the Inverness Club, Ohio, than ever before.
