Ahead of the AIG Women's Open we spoke to Georgia Hall, the newest ambassador for Duca del Cosma

Last week Georgia Hall was announced as the latest ambassador for luxury Italian golf shoe brand Duca del Cosma. Ahead of the final Major of the season, Women & Golf got five minutes with Hall to see how she is feeling about her game, Walton Heath and her new partnership.

How does your golf game feel ahead of the AIG Women's Open?

It feels in a good place. I’m looking forward to the event, been looking forward to it all year. It’s quite close to home for me, so I know I’ll get quite a lot of support from friends and family which means the world. It’s been a busy schedule, so it’s good to have had a week at home before heading into the AIG Women’s Open.

How have you managed to find time to rest during your busy playing schedule?

I think it’s important to plan out your schedule at the beginning of the season, not to have too many weeks competing. I played a lot at the start of the season, so to have a couple of weeks off to rest and correct a couple of problems I’ve had over recent weeks, gives me confidence heading into the AIG.

I played Walton Heath a few years ago. I knew the course would be in great condition as you can expect that from The R&A. I think it will be playing a little softer than they had intended due to all the rain recently.

How great was it to see your friend Celine Boutier take home her first Major and on home soil? Did it bring memories back of your AIG Women's Open victory in 2018?

I was so happy for her. A Frenchwoman winning in France for her first Major. I know how much that must have meant to her and it did bring back memories of my win.

It was great to have the opportunity to congratulate her properly when I saw her this week.

We all know that footwear has to be functional but how much does the look and style mean to you?

I like fashion and to look the part on the golf course. Duca del Cosma is different to anything else I've every played in and I've played in with my previous brand for eight years. So I am looking forward to getting out on the golf course in these new shoes.

What do you like most about Duca del Cosma?

I like that it is different from anything else. It's really comfortable. When I play so many events, comfort is really important for me and for the shoes to feel quite lightweight. It helps to give my legs a rest as I walk so many miles in a day. Once I tried Duca del Cosma and practised in them, I knew that I would fit right into them.

Do you prefer a more traditional-looking shoe or do you like the slightly wilder styles from Duca?

Normally I prefer the more traditional looking golf shoe but I think that they have so many different styles, I could wear both. It will depend on the conditions and the weather, I definitely think I'll have a few options out there.

You've now partnered with an apparel brand (Röhnisch) and a shoe brand that has strong female leadership, was that important to you?

Yes definitely, I think it's important for me to have a good relationship with the people of the brands I partner with. Women empowerment and support in sport is really important and that is growing every year. If there is anything that I can do to help grow that, then I will.

Georgia Hall gets her AIG Women's Open campaign underway at 12:27pm (BST) on Thursday, playing with her good friend and back-to-back winner Celine Boutier and Thailand's Atthaya Thitikul. View AIG Women's Open tee times here.
