Canadian star Brooke Henderson kicked off her season in style after firing a bogey-free, 68 on Thursday at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic.

When play was suspended for darkness, Henderson was leading rookie Luna Sobron Galmes, playing in her first start on the LPGA Tour, by one shot. Sobron Galmes has a chance to make history on Sunday with a win, as she would become the first player to win in her first start on Tour since 1951 when Beverly Hanson won the Eastern Open.

Henderson sits at five-under par, one stroke ahead of Sarah Jane Smith and Sobron Galmes on a day when high winds made scoring extremely difficult. Tied for fourth at three-under par are Danielle Kang, Jing Yan, Katherine Kirk, Shanshan Feng, along with rookies Lindsey Weaver and Maria Torres.

Bronte Law, in her second year on Tour, put in a strong performance, firing a 72, to lie on T13 alongside a group of players that includes Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson.

The opening round was suspended at 5:59 p.m. local time due to darkness with 12 players on the course. They will return to the course at 7:10 a.m. to complete their round. The second round will begin at the same time.
