There’s still time to get your tickets for this week’s Aramco Team Series – London, with British stars Charley Hull, Georgia Hall, Catriona Matthew and Bronte Law all playing.
The Ladies European Tour is heading back to the UK after a sensational week at the Scandinavian Mixed which saw member Linn Grant win by an incredible nine shots. It’s the second year that Centurion Club in St. Albans has hosted the Aramco Team Series.
Taking place on June 16-18, ATS - London brings many of the biggest names in women's golf together, with a unique format over three days team and individual golf.
Set to battle it out will be British superstars Georgia Hall, Charley Hull and Bronte Law, the latter fresh from a sixth place finish at the U.S. Women’s Open.
They’ll be joined by the likes of Swedish sensation Grant, Denmark’s Nanna Madsen, big-hitting Dutch player Anne van Dam and exciting breakout Spanish star, Ana Palaez.
You can see all these players and more for just £5 per ticket.
Here’s five reasons that will be five pounds well spent…
1. A who’s-who of women’s golf competing for $1million
ATS London provides a rare opportunity to watch some of the best of the game teeing it up in one of the home counties. There are no other LET golf events in England this year. There will be a strong British contingent that includes Hull, Hall and Law. As well as Rose Ladies Series winners Liz Young, Gabriella Cowley, Hayley Davies, Becky Brewerton, Georgina Blackman, Chloe Williams and Alice Hewson. Plus two-time Solheim Cup winning Captain Catriona Matthew!
2. An exciting new format in professional golf…revamped for 2022
Last year saw the Aramco Team Series become the first team event series of its kind on any professional tour with a new format that uniquely combines individual and team format. This year sees a revised format, with its team competition taking place only over the first two days of the tournament, with the best two scores per hole counting and a $500,000 prize fund up for grabs. Running concurrently will be the ATS London’s individual strokeplay contest, which will be decided on the third and final round in a last day shootout for another share of $500,000 prize money.
3. A stunning venue offering a great day out – and all for just £5
Centurion Club is being transformed ahead of the Aramco Team Series London and will be the perfect place for the whole family to come and have a lot of fun. As well as a front row seat to the golf, there will be lots of have-a-go golf challenges for golfers of all abilities. The golf will be broadcast across the course and in the tournament’s fan zone, the latter of which will be surrounded by a host of food trucks and drink stands.
4. Doing good for the women’s game – from elite to ground level
Aramco’s continued partnership for 2022 makes it one of the biggest backers in women’s golf. However, away from the elite stage and the Aramco Team Series, it is committed to elevating women’s golf at every level, starting from young beginner golfers upwards. At the ATS – London, hundreds of school children and junior golfers will be welcomed on-site for free professional-led lessons, while its players will be competing in on-site challenges to win as much money as possible to support local charity, The Girls Network.
5. Cheering on the amateurs…some of them may need it!
One of many unique aspects of the Aramco Team Series events is their team formats, which see three professional LET players partner up as a fourball with an amateur golfer. This means it could be on a Sunday, armchair golfer to roll in a tournament-winning putt that would bag his pro team-mates big money and vital ranking points. There’s no event in golf like it…which can mean there’s the odd bit of first tee (and second tee, and third tee…!) nerves amongst the handicap-playing amateurs. However, it is all great fun – and with walk on music, takes an entirely new and relaxed approach.
