Mizuno, Golf Pair Tours

Mizuno will team up with the popular golf pairs tour for a series of three-day events at top courses across the British Isles in 2016.

Mizuno, the Japanese golf equipment manufacturer long renowned for its beautiful, industry-leading forged irons and wedges, has confirmed that from 2016 it will be joining forces with the Golf Pairs Tour to add its significant golfing expertise to the already flourishing events.

As the Golf Pairs Tour (GPT) moves into its third year, Mizuno is delighted to be coming on-board in 2016 as headline partner for what has rapidly become a very popular series of friendly, competitive events for amateur golfers, taking in some of the UK’s finest courses.

The Mizuno Golf Pairs Tour will run a trio of three-day events in 2016, each offering three rounds of competitive golf at some of the UK’s most renowned golfing destinations. First stop in 2016 will be for the GPT Trophy in West Wales from May 4-6, visiting the clifftop stunner at Nefyn & District, and two of Wales’ most revered links in Royal St David’s and Aberdovey. The Mizuno GPT then moves up to North East Scotland from June 30 to July 2 for the GPT Links Jug, and finally North West England in September for the GPT Shield.

The format is three consecutive days of fourball betterball Stableford off three-quarters handicap, with the line-up for the first event in West Wales highlighting exactly what makes the Golf Pairs Tour so enjoyable, according to David Matthews, Mizuno EMEA Brand Marketing Manager:

“There’s something very special about the Golf Pairs Tour that really appealed to us. The three courses at each event are cleverly chosen to give a great mix of premier venues and hidden gems – we’re hoping we’ll be able to introduce people to a few great courses they might not otherwise have thought to play.

“Open to all amateur golfers with an active club handicap, the events provide the perfect fit for the Mizuno brand – people who are serious about their golf and want the best golfing experiences. We’re excited about the partnership, attending all the events in 2016 and engaging with more club golfers.”

An exciting new development for the 2016 Golf Pairs Tour will be a special final event hosted by Mizuno for the outright winners of each three-day competition. Those winners will be treated to another memorable day’s golf at a premier course plus the chance to get some personal tips from a Mizuno European Tour professional.

“We are delighted to have partnered with Mizuno and to be able to announce that from 2016 the series will be known as the Mizuno Golf Pairs Tour,” said Sam Maylott, Director Golf Pairs Tour. “We look forward to working together with Mizuno to help further elevate our events in 2016 and beyond”.

With numbers for the West Wales event limited to 80 competitors, at a cost of £330 per pair to include green fees, competition entry to win some great prizes every day and 2016 Mizuno Golf Pairs Tour membership, golfers are urged to book early by visiting www.golfpairs.com.
