The promising player won out of a field of 93 girls.

Burnham & Berrow member Harriet Lockley topped the leaderboard at the Faldo Series Wales Girls Championship yesterday (August 12).

Taking place at The Vale and Cottrell Park, she won the overall title and the U16 category.

Finishing seven under with rounds of 70, 73 and 72 the Millfield Senior School player was just above Jessica Hall, from Bishop Auckland.

Jessica also played exceptionally well finishing six under and winning the U21 category.

Both will now go through the final in Abu Dhabi this November.

A total of 93 girls took part in the amateur tournament; the largest junior girls' field in the history of the Series, and the biggest to ever take place in Wales.

This comes just after the Faldo Series became a proud signatory of the R&A's Women in Golf Charter.

With more girls taking part in the international tournaments than ever before, the Faldo Series wanted to formally announce their commitment to increasing female participation in the game.

Sir Nick Faldosaid:

The Women in Golf Charter ties in perfectly with what I created the Faldo Series for  inspiringan industry-wide commitment fordeveloping a more inclusive culture within golf, enabling more juniors, in this case girls, to flourish, enjoy and maximise their potential at all levels of the game.

With record-breaking numbers for girls participating in the Series, it really does show the promise for the women’s game and we’re excited to continue to support the opportunities for girls in the sport with The R&A and fellow Women in Golf Charter partners.”

We loved being able to watch the live coverage thanks to Content LIVE Golf and we look forward to following what happens on the rest of the exciting Series.

Well done Harriet and Jessica!
