Leona Maguire earns a fourth Solheim Cup appearance as three rookies join her in Anna Nordqvist’s four wildcard selections for Europe’s bid to reclaim the trophy at Bernardus Golf in September.
European captain Anna Nordqvist has completed her 12-strong Solheim Cup team, naming Leona Maguire alongside rookies Julia López Ramirez, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes as her four captain’s picks.
The announcement, made live on Sky Sports, came after a dramatic AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes saw Germany’s Esther Henseleit move into one of the automatic LET qualifying spots, forcing Nordqvist’s hand on her final selections.
Europe will be looking to win back the trophy at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11-13, having lost out to the United States on home soil last time out.
Maguire brings experience, three rookies handed debuts
Ireland’s Maguire has the most Solheim Cup pedigree of the four picks and will make her fourth consecutive appearance for the team. “I love the Solheim Cup, it brings the best out of my game,” she said. “I can’t wait to represent Europe for the fourth time and to be back on European soil.”
The remaining three picks are all set for their Solheim Cup debuts. Spain’s López Ramirez, 23, is in her rookie LET season and second year on the LPGA Tour. “It’s so cool. I’m living the dream right now,” she said.
France’s Nadaud secured her maiden LET title at last season’s AndalucÃa Costa del Sol Open de España and has made the cut at every major she has played in 2026. “It’s unbelievable. It’s a dream come true to represent Europe in a home Solheim Cup,” she said.
England’s Rhodes rounds out the picks following a breakout 2025 season that brought three LET wins and the Rookie of the Year title. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play in the Solheim Cup,” she said. “I’m so proud to represent Team Europe so early in my career.”
Nordqvist praised all four, singling out Maguire’s matchplay record and describing Rhodes as “an experienced matchplay player and a fierce competitor.”
The full European team
