Get your setup right first
Ball position centre, feet closer together than usual, weight 60% on your lead foot, and the handle pointing to your belly button — nail this every time and consistency follows.
Brush the ground after the ball, not before
Rock your shoulders like a putting stroke and let the handle lead through impact, making contact with the grass after the ball to avoid the flicks and duffs that come from trying to help the ball into the air.
Use a symmetrical swing to control distance
Match the length of your backswing to your follow-through using simple reference points — toe to toe, knee to knee, hip to hip — to take tension out of your chipping and produce a repeatable, smooth stroke.
