Tee the ball low
For a three wood, push the tee just into the grass so the ball hovers barely above the ground — far lower than you would for a driver — so the club face makes contact with the middle of the ball rather than the bottom of the tee.
Move the ball forward in your stance
Unlike iron shots where the ball sits in the middle of your stance, for a three wood position the ball closer to your forward (left) foot to encourage a cleaner strike and better trajectory.
Hit down and transfer your weight
Swing down through the ball as you would with an iron, and finish with your body weight fully on your forward foot — this is the single most important swing thought to take away from the session.
