Handpicked staples from the high street that you’ll feel fabulous wearing on and off the fairways.

This year, I’ve made a conscious effort to be a much savvier shopper. I’m really trying to make a split from fast fashion (I’ll be honest, it’s a lot harder than I thought). And instead invest in quality, versatile pieces I feel just as comfortable wearing on the course as off it.

One of my biggest learnings so far is that that doesn’t have to mean splashing out on top brands; you’ll find a lot of golfing staples on the high street.

Think high-performing fabrics that keep you cool and dry on the greens or in the gym. Trousers suitable for boardrooms or bunkers. And perfect-for-when-the-weather-can’t-make-up-it’s-mind jackets for all seasons.

I’ve handpicked a few of my favourites that you can pick up from the high-street. They’re great value for money, and I guarantee you’ll find yourself wearing them all the time.

H&M

DryMove™ Running gilet £27.99

This lightweight gilet in smart DryMove™ fabric will keep you cool and dry as you move. Its slim and adjustable fit makes it a flattering option, and has a four-way stretch for maximum comfort and mobility.

DryMove™ Zip-top sports top £24.99

Mid layers are an essential piece of your golfing kit, especially at this time of the year, and this one is a great value option. The same clever fabric wicks away moisture from your skin, and the pockets are super handy.

Sports bra £17.99

Sports bras are seriously underestimated when it comes to playing golf. We’ve written about it in the past, but there’s a lot to suggest that your game may actually benefit from wearing one.

These bras from H&M provide maximum support for golf and the wide shoulder straps and lined cups make them comfortable and flattering. The hook and eye fastening at the back also make it easy to get on and off.

Marks & Spencer

High-waisted jeggings £17.99

Our editor Emma has a serious obsession with these jeggings and we can see why. They’re smart, comfy and come in a whole range of colours. And they’re only £17.99. They also come in a range of fits (regular, petite and long) which is something not many golf brands offer.

Cotton sweatshirt £27.50

I’ve got my eye on the melon and lime versions of this jumper which I think would be perfect for the summer. It’s a great shape and I love that it has pockets.

High-waisted leggings £27.50

Everyone needs a good pair of black leggings; for the gym, for the driving range, for dog walks and for bingeing Netflix. I have a few pairs of M&S leggings. They’re comfortable and they wash well, and this pair have a useful hidden pocket at the back. And they’re thick enough to wear with a T-shirt if you want to (because there is nothing worse than worrying about whether your knickers are on show when you bend over!).

Shapewear slim trousers £32

Flattering and comfortable, these black trousers could as easily be worn at work as they could be on the course. They also come in a variety of fits (regular, petite, long and extra tall), which I definitely appreciate as someone just a peanut over 5ft tall.
