Five tips for wearing bold prints
If your wardrobe is a sea of monochrome and neutral golf clothing, then the thought of embracing bold print and patterns may feel a little daunting.
Here are some simple tips from Igho & Me which may help:
1. Begin with accessories
If wearing bold prints seems a big step then start with something simple, such as visor, hat or glove. Or maybe not something you wear, you could go bold with your golf bag or clubhead covers.
2. Pair with black and white
One of the most subtle ways to wear prints is to take advantage of the contrast that black and white bring. A hint of white or black within the pattern itself can help make your look even more co-ordinated.
3. Use the print's background colour throughout the outfit...
An example could be the Swing Out Sister - Pull-on Print Skort in Daisy above where the model is wearing a navy polo shirt which pulls out the base colour of the skort. This minimises the intensity and makes the outfit feel bold but much less intimidating.
4. …or pull out another hue
If you’re feeling more daring, pick a richer colour from your print. Even the brightest pigments are guaranteed to complement your statement piece perfectly without overshadowing it. An example of this is the Puma Golf - Mattr Pathfinder Golf Polo Shirt above where the model has used the pink in the print to match with the vibrant pink skort.
5. Opt for minimal accessories
Clean white golf shoes and socks are low-key partners to a bold golf dress. Moral of the story: Don’t overthink bold prints. Wear them minimally (but confidently) and it'll never be “too much.”
What is certain is that there is a huge array of bold prints on offer across the golf fashion industry this Spring, with more to follow as brands release their latest collection.
We're looking forward to seeing plenty of bold print statements on the golf course this year.
