Jordan Salisbury plays Division 1 golf in North Carolina. Her sister Katherine studies at St Andrews. Between Texas heat and Scottish wind, they built a brand on the idea that performance and style were never supposed to be a trade-off.
Women’s golf apparel has a familiar problem: brands tend to pick a lane, between technical performance wear and golf-adjacent fashion that photographs well but does little on the course. Finding both in one piece is still harder than it should be — which is the gap Ladies Tees was built to fill.
Founded by sisters Jordan and Katherine Salisbury, who grew up playing competitive golf in Texas and won four state titles between them, the brand now spans two very different golf worlds: Jordan plays Division 1 golf in North Carolina, Katherine studies at St Andrews. That contrast — American college golf against the home of the game — became the founding tension behind Ladies Tees.
WG: What actually made you think, ‘this doesn’t exist and it should’?
Jordan & Katherine: It was less one defining moment and more something we experienced over and over again. We were constantly choosing between clothes that performed well but felt overly athletic or masculine, and clothes that looked good but weren’t actually designed to play 18 holes of competitive golf in. Ladies Tees really came from years of saying, ‘Why doesn’t this exist?’
WG: Jordan, what does ‘high-performance’ actually mean day-to-day on the course?
Jordan: To me, high-performance means clothes that are comfortable, well-fitting, sweat-wicking, and built to move with you without ever getting in the way of your game. It also means details that are actually useful, like pockets big enough to hold a yardage book, tees or a ball. The clothes need to hold up to heat, rain, long days and regular wear and tear, while still being easy to wash and maintain.
WG: Katherine, how different is dressing for St Andrews compared to Texas golf?
Katherine: Completely different! Texas golf can mean playing in extreme heat, whereas St Andrews has taught me to expect wind, rain and sunshine within the same round. There’s this incredible sense of tradition and timelessness that has influenced the aesthetic side of Ladies Tees — pieces with the performance qualities Jordan needs, but polished enough to belong at a place like St Andrews.

WG: Where does the ‘move beyond the red’ idea come from?
Jordan & Katherine: ‘Move Beyond the Red’ comes from the traditional idea of the red tees being the ‘Ladies Tees’. That language has always bothered us because it reduces women golfers to one predetermined place on the course, regardless of ability. The phrase has also become bigger than tee boxes for us. It’s about moving beyond outdated expectations of what women are capable of on and off the course.
WG: Functional, appropriate, fashionable — which was hardest to find all at once?
Honestly, it was the combination that was hardest to find. There are fashionable clothes and there are incredibly technical golf clothes, but finding something that genuinely does both is much harder. We don’t think caring about fashion makes you any less serious about golf, and we don’t think being a serious golfer means you should have to compromise on personal style.
WG: Where do you think the rest of the industry is still getting it wrong for women?
Dresses are a great example. They’re increasingly popular in women’s golf, but there’s a huge difference between making a dress that looks sporty and actually designing one for golf. You have to think about coverage through the swing, length, movement, pockets, fabric, heat and how it feels after several hours on the course.

WG: Who’s your customer, and has that changed since launch?
What we’ve realised is that she isn’t defined by handicap or even golf. She might be a competitive junior, a college golfer, an active athlete looking for clothes that support her and her style. What connects her is that she cares about function and cares about how she presents herself.
WG: Talk us through the current range.
Our collection is centred around dresses and matching sets, alongside accessories that bring the wider Ladies Tees aesthetic to the course. If someone is discovering us for the first time, we’d point them toward the Birkdale Wrap Dress — feminine and tailored, but still designed with course dress codes and functionality in mind. My favourite thing is the separate, removable undershorts — anyone who’s worn an athletic dress knows undershorts can be the biggest nuisance.
WG: Do you ship to the UK yet?
We currently ship throughout the US, and we’re actively working on making Ladies Tees more accessible to golfers internationally.
WG: What’s next?
Wholesale is a major priority, particularly building relationships with golf clubs and pro shops in the US and eventually the UK. We’re also in the beginning stages of designing collection 2 — we can’t wait to explore more patterns, stronger colour palettes and alternative silhouettes. We’re still a very young brand, and there’s so much of the Ladies Tees identity we haven’t had the opportunity to show yet.
Ladies Tees isn’t stocked or shipping in the UK yet, so it’s a name to file away. But the case Jordan and Katherine make is one this side of the Atlantic will recognise. One to watch as wholesale plans, and hopefully UK shipping, take shape.
