A brief review of our Women & Golf event on 17th October at The Grove - the return after June's event was washed out
Women & Golf re-visited The Grove on Tuesday 17th October - following a wash-out in June which will be henceforth known as Monsoon Monday!
Fortunately, despite a significant drop in temperature and a lot more layers in evidence, the sun shone and blue skies greeted the group. Here's a brief round up of the day.
First Tee Photocall
A lovely start to the day, and lots of chit-chat on the 1st and 10th holes as play got underway.
After Golf
Following golf, the players retired to the Players Lounge.
A beautifully presented late buffet lunch with a huge selection of enticing dishes including barbecued prawns, chicken and halloumi. Plus, a scrummy eton mess for dessert.
After the round, the players commented:
"My golf hasn’t been any good but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the course."
"It’s been chilly but at least we didn’t get wet!"
"Love W&G golf days. Where’s the next one?"
"It’s a long, tricky course in fantastic condition. Would definitely play again."
Prizegiving
The prizes were kindly provided by our sponsors Duca del Cosma, Zebra putters, Motocaddy, Slingsby Gin, Wilson golf and Sabbot Headwear.
🏆 1st - Duca Del Cosma shoes worth £200
🥈 2nd - Zebra putter worth £199

🏌️♀️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️ Team - Sabbot Headwear Bobble Hat & Snood
It was a tough day where scoring was concerned and the wind, the difficulty of the course and the lightning-fast greens made sure no-one bettered their handicap.
Almost all of the field had not played there before and everyone said "it was tricky, very tricky" but very enjoyable.
The individual winners were as follows:
🏆 1st Georgina from Crondon Park with 32 points
🥈2nd Sally from Ullesthorpe Court with 30pts
🥉3rd Ju from Mottram Hall with 28pts (on countback)
⛳ Nearest the Pin, Gets the Gin - Jane from West Essex
🏌️♀️ Longest Drive - Sarah from Puttenham
🏌️♀️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️ Team - Sally, Alli, Suzie & Paula
Beat Lester
In the absence of Alice Davis, Ed Bell, Managing Director of Lester Brunt Wealth Management took on our version of Beat The Pro.
Could any of our group meet the challenge and out shoot Ed on the difficult par 3 16th?
Quite a number of ladies made it onto the green inside of Ed's ball and each received a sleeve of Titleist balls.
Where Ed missed the green, those players’ names were put into a hat and Suzie King was the lucky person who won a bottle of Bluestone English sparkling wine.
Goody Bags
[Many of the ladies who appeared at the June event took their goody bag away with them in June.]
An integral part of any golf day, each player took away a goody bag.
Thanks to OCEANTEE (bamboo tees), Eucerin (sunscreen - most definitely needed) & Lester Brunt pen - always useful - for their gifts. Gimmeballs also gave us 10% discount on their personalised golf balls. Great present idea for you and your golf friends.
Thanks to The Grove for their lovely golf ball bag with tee pegs & pitch repairer!
Thank you
Thank you so much to all the players who came to support our golf day at The Grove - part 2.
We'll be in touch with our 2024 schedule of events very soon.
