The Manor House Golf Club in Wiltshire has launched a new countryside golf break that pairs a scenic round with a stay at one of England’s most charming village pubs.
The new “Pub & Play” package, now available from £230 per person, includes two rounds on the club’s parkland course along with an overnight stay at The Castle Inn, a 12th-century inn in Castle Combe — often called England’s prettiest village.
A Countryside Retreat with a Modern Twist
Guests start their stay with a round on The Manor House’s acclaimed par-72 course, which winds through 365 acres of rolling countryside on the southern edge of the Cotswolds. Afterward, players can relax at The Castle Inn, a historic coaching inn that has been stylishly updated to blend old-world charm with contemporary comfort.
Dinner is a highlight of the experience. Recently ranked among the UK’s Top 50 Gastropubs, The Castle Inn serves seasonal dishes using local and homegrown ingredients. A £37 per person dinner allowance is included in the package, and guests can enjoy drinks in the courtyard or by the fire indoors.
After a night in one of the inn’s 12 rooms and a hearty breakfast, golfers return to the course for a second round — this time with some insider knowledge in hand.
A Course on the Rise
Designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, The Manor House course opened in 1992 and continues to evolve. Recent updates include new stone tee markers, visual improvements to the 17th hole, and ongoing sustainability upgrades, including irrigation work and a major bunker renovation.
