Girls Golf Rocks is back for 2023 and your club or facility can join in the fun

Girls Golf Rocks applications are now invited from golf venues affiliated to England Golf or HSBC Golf Roots Centres keen to inspire a new generation of girl golfers.

The programme is now in its seventh year and has helped introduce over 8,000 girls to the game of golf – inspiring new recruits to enjoy themselves in a fun, friendly and safe environment.

Has your club got involved with Girls Golf Rocks in previous years and wants to take part again in 2023?

Has your club never taken part and you think it’s time to climb on board the Girls Golf Rocks’ bandwagon?

The online closing date for applications is February 5, 2023*.

In 2022, 200 facilities across England signed up to make Girls Golf Rocks a runaway success. This looks to continue into 2023 as there is again scope for up to 200 facilities across all counties to get involved in the biggest girls’ coaching programme in the country.

England Golf will provide marketing tools, resources and coach-funding for clubs eager to take part.

The emphasis of the lessons is for the girls to learn the fundamentals of the game, have fun with their mates in a comfortable and relaxed setting without too much emphasis on the coaching and competitive elements of the game.

The lessons will take the girls through all the basics of golf culminating in a final session on the course where they can put into practise all they have learned from their PGA-qualified coach.

The club must be willing to stage two six-week blocks of coaching for beginner girls in the 5-18 age bracket.

This year there are several changes to the programme. Girls Golf Rocks will be running for a shorter period, therefore coaching blocks must be held on any dates convenient to clubs between May and July 2023.

The participant fee has been increased to £40 which means we have also been able to increase the coaches' contribution that is received once the programme has concluded. The programme overview contains more information about the programme changes and the price increase.

Clubs may also stage taster sessions ahead of any coaching block – however this is at the discretion and expense of each club.

The aim of Girls Golf Rocks is to boost participation numbers and address the long-term disparity in numbers between girls and boys playing the game.

While qualified PGA professionals will lead the sessions, the programme will also encourage two female ambassadors aged over 14 to act as peer role-models and assist in the delivery at each club.
