Celebrations spanned six continents, from Japan to Uganda to Texas, in a landmark year for women’s golf
Women’s Golf Day (WGD), the worldwide initiative celebrating women and girls in golf, recently wrapped its 10th anniversary with a weeklong series of events across the globe. From May 27 to June 3, hundreds of courses and clubs came together to host WGD activities, making this one of the most expansive celebrations yet.
Festivities began online with WGD Palooza, featuring giveaways, partner promotions, and a highlight interview with Tour star Suzann Pettersen discussing her latest project, Voxa. The online celebration helped set the stage for a week that saw participation on every continent—except Antarctica.
A Snapshot of Global Highlights
Asia:
In Japan, 94 WGD events were held, including eight at Accordia-managed courses. The Japan Golf Association played a major role in supporting this year’s activities. In the UAE, GOLFTEC Dubai once again hosted an indoor event, helping participants escape the heat and sharpen their skills.
Africa:
Uganda saw several events at venues like Toro Club and Entebbe Golf Club. In Mauritius, La Belle Mare hosted a popular gathering that drew women from across the island.
Europe:
The UK saw strong participation, with a standout event at Royal Ascot Golf Club, where WGD’s travel partner Golfbreaks hosted a gathering that brought together both long-time members and first-time players. The event combined coaching and on-course play, creating an inclusive and engaging experience that reflected the spirit of WGD.
Across the continent, venues like La Cala Resort and The Range Marbella in Spain hosted dynamic events, while the Evian Resort Golf Academy in France provided a scenic backdrop ahead of this summer’s Evian Championship. More than 100 women participated in events in Poland, while Ålands Golfklubb in Finland held one of WGD’s most remote gatherings alongside the Nordic Women’s Amateur Invitational. Marco Simone Golf Club in Italy once again welcomed large numbers, and in Montenegro, the National Golf Association introduced women to the driving range in Lipovo, a future golf destination.
North America:
The U.S. and Canada hosted hundreds of events, including a major WGD Signature Series event at Omni PGA Frisco in Texas. This event featured golf lessons, simulator play, and a panel discussion with WGD founder Elisa Gaudet, PGA professionals, and industry leaders.
Pinehurst Resort welcomed over 100 women, while Dobson Ranch in Arizona saw 350 attendees for its third annual celebration. Augusta Ranch in Georgia and Pine Ridge in Texas also returned with strong community turnouts.
Canada’s highlights included World Long Drive champion Lisa Longball Vlooswyk and first-time events like the one in Brampton, Ontario. LaunchPad Golf in Alberta also hosted an impressive gathering.
Oceania:
Moorea Green Pearl in French Polynesia held its fifth WGD event in what may be the world’s most idyllic setting.
A Community That Keeps Growing
Beyond the numbers, Women’s Golf Day continues to serve as a powerful reminder of golf’s growing inclusivity. New additions to the WGD community in 2025 included events for military families in Virginia and a corporate gathering for female employees hosted by The Toro Company in Minnesota.
WGD’s founder Elisa Gaudet reflected on the milestone:
“The golf facilities, organizers, and sponsors who support WGD are making a real investment in the future of the game. Seeing the photos and hearing the stories from around the world reminds us why this matters—because these events are creating joyful, lasting experiences for women and girls in golf.”
She also emphasized that WGD is more than a one-week celebration:
“We’ve grown from a single idea into a global movement. Our digital platform now helps connect players with golf facilities year-round, whether they’re looking for lessons, tee times, or travel opportunities.”
