Victory for Sutton Coldfield’s Serafima Taylor and Walton Heath’s Hanna Nordlund at Old Fold Manor
Serafima Taylor and Hanna Nordlund claimed the 2025 English Girls’ Under 16 and Under 14 titles respectively after an eventful final day at Old Fold Manor, where severe weather forced organisers to reduce the final round to just nine holes.
With thunderstorms looming, the Under 14s completed the front nine, while the Under 16s tackled the back nine in a two-tee start format. Despite the shortened format, the closing stretch still produced plenty of drama—and two deserving champions.
Taylor Holds Off Late Charge to Take Under 16 Title
Taylor, who was runner-up in the Under 14s last year, began the final round at -9 with a three-shot cushion over a chasing pack that included Germany’s Luisa Kristin Hartmann and England Girls’ Squad players Annabel Peaford and Lauren Crump. While her nearest challengers faded early, fellow German Lena Marie Geier surged with a five-under round to set the clubhouse lead at -8.
But Taylor, keeping a close eye on the leaderboard, responded with a composed three-under round to finish at -11 and seal the win by three shots.
“It means a lot because last week was the first time I ever shot under par in a tournament,” said Taylor. “I’ve now done it three times in one week. I never expected that to come so soon.”
Daisy Lee impressed with a bogey-free four-under to finish joint-third alongside Ellie Lichtenhein and Hartmann. Peaford took sixth on -6, while Wales’ Rebecca Del Sol-Gonzalez was a shot further back. Standout scores on the day included -6 rounds from Marta Muñoz Escudero (Spain) and Lily Hawes (Chelmsford).
Nordlund Seals Under 14 Victory with Final-Hole Eagle
In the Under 14 Championship, Hanna Nordlund edged out her French playing partners Anouchka Djumic and Jurilayci Kardasik with a spectacular finish.
The three went into the final two holes tied at -4. Nordlund birdied the 8th to take a one-shot lead, but Djumic responded with a birdie at the last, meaning Nordlund needed to match it to win. She did more than that—chipping in for eagle to seal a two-shot victory at -7.
“It means a lot because I’d never won a big tournament before,” said Nordlund. “I was trying to stay aggressive with just nine holes to play, and I thought to myself, ‘what if I chip in?’—and then I actually did!”
With her win, Nordlund joins a list of past Under 14 champions that includes Georgia Hall and Charley Hull. “It’s amazing to see that they won this title and have gone on to achieve so much,” she added. “Hopefully I can follow in their footsteps too.”
Elsewhere in the Under 14s, early pace-setter Mila Dodds (Sand Moor) shared fourth place with Icíar Rodriguez of Spain.
The 2026 edition of the English Girls’ Under 16 & Under 14 Championship will be held at Gog Magog Golf Club in Cambridgeshire.
