Scottish Golf is putting the spotlight on women and girls with a dedicated initiative. The goal: inspire new players and make golf accessible for everyone.
Showcasing Female Role Models in Golf
Now in its ninth year, ‘Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week’ backs female participation in golf with support from sportscotland and other partners. Scottish Golf will use the October week to share the stories of inspiring golfers, coaches, and volunteers, showing the positive impact women have in all areas of the sport.
Beyond the Course: The Benefits of Golf
Golf isn’t just about competition. As highlighted by Scottish Golf, it can burn up to 1200 calories in a single game and has been shown to help players live longer—by as much as five years on average. These health perks, both physical and mental, are a major focus of the campaign.
Making Golf Open to All
Jennifer Wilson, Women and Girls Development Manager at Scottish Golf, stresses the importance of showing women and girls that golf is an option for them. By showcasing a variety of roles in the sport—from player to coach to club volunteer—Scottish Golf aims to boost participation and help more women connect with local clubs and career routes in golf.
Next Steps
Scottish Golf encourages women and girls interested in learning more or getting involved to visit their local clubs and explore the possibilities within the sport.
