Island to welcome top female golfers for MCB Ladies Classic at Constance Belle Mare Plage
Mauritius will make its debut on the Ladies European Tour (LET) calendar in 2026, as the island nation prepares to host the inaugural MCB Ladies Classic from May 1–3. The 54-hole tournament will be played on the Legend Course at Constance Belle Mare Plage, marking the first time the LET brings a women’s professional event to Mauritius.
A New Chapter for Women’s Golf in the Indian Ocean
A field of 120 players is expected to compete in the stroke play event, with the top 60 professionals and ties advancing past the cut after two rounds. The tournament will offer a €400,000 prize purse and award Official World Golf Ranking points, LET Order of Merit points, and Solheim Cup qualification points.
While the LET has never staged a tournament in Mauritius before, the island is no stranger to professional golf. The Legend Course has previously hosted 14 editions of the MCB Tour Championship on the Legends Tour between 2009 and 2024.
Spotlight on the Legend Course
Set against one of Mauritius’s most scenic beachfronts, the Legend Course was designed by former South African pro Hugh Baiocchi and opened in 1994. Known for its tropical beauty and strategic layout, the course offers a memorable setting for the new LET stop.
LET CEO Alexandra Armas said, “We are excited to bring Europe’s best female golfers to Mauritius for the very first time. The Legend Course is an excellent championship venue in a beautiful setting, and we look forward to showcasing women’s golf there.”
A Showcase for the Island and Women’s Sport
Local partners are equally enthusiastic about the global exposure the event is expected to generate. Jean-Jacques Vallet, CEO of Constance Hospitality, described the tournament as “a major opportunity to shine a global spotlight on the natural beauty and appeal of Mauritius as a premier golf destination.”
MCB Group CEO Jean Michel Ng Tseung echoed that sentiment, noting the event’s significance for the island: “This is a significant milestone as we continue to promote Mauritius as a world-class golf destination. We are committed to supporting the growth of golf on the island and increasing its international recognition.
