Club celebrates growing female membership and success of inclusive initiatives
Crowborough Beacon Golf Club in East Sussex is reaffirming its commitment to women’s golf with the return of its Ladies Love Golf Academy. The initiative, now entering its second year, has already proved a successful pathway into the game for new female players.
The Academy is a four-stage, subsidised programme that blends coaching, etiquette lessons, chaperoned rounds with existing members, and social events to help women feel confident both on and off the course.
Strong First-Year Results
Since launching the Academy last year, Crowborough Beacon has seen encouraging results. More than a quarter of the women who attended initial taster sessions went on to become full club members — a sign that the programme is not only accessible but genuinely effective in fostering long-term engagement.
The club expects to see similar success with the next group of participants.
Women at the Heart of Club Life
Women members played a leading role in this year’s Festival of Golf, a six-day celebration that drew more than 600 players to the club’s scenic heathland course. The highlight for many was the return of the Beacon Trophy — now open to both men and women — in which players competed side by side for the first time.
This summer also saw hands-on contributions from intern Evelyn Parks, a student of Applied Golf Management Studies at the University of Birmingham. Parks played a key role in implementing strategies to support female players at the club.

To further encourage women’s participation, Crowborough Beacon offers multi-year membership discounts for new female members, incentives for partners, and second-club discounts — including for players with disabilities. Among those taking advantage is European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) player Aimi Bullock, who chose Crowborough Beacon for its strong community and course quality.
Looking Ahead: Championship Hosting and National Recognition
Crowborough Beacon is set to host the Sussex Ladies Amateur Championship in 2026, and in 2027 will welcome players from over 40 countries for the English Girls Strokeplay Championship, one of England Golf’s flagship junior events.
