LET pros team up with amateur golfers at Castle Royle for a day of inspiration, competition, and community
The second annual Cara Gainer Invitational welcomed 64 women to Castle Royle Golf & Country Club bringing together professionals and amateur players from across The Club Company’s network in a spirited celebration of women’s golf.
Spearheaded by Ladies European Tour (LET) professional and long-time Castle Royle member Cara Gainer, the event is quickly becoming a standout on the summer calendar for female golfers of all levels.
LET Pros Lead the Way
Among the attendees were 13 LET professionals and three from the LET Access Series, each teamed with amateur golfers for the main event—a shotgun start competition that paired elite experience with community camaraderie.
Before teeing off, participants were treated to a masterclass led by Gainer herself, who shared insights into her game and advice for players keen to improve. After play, attendees enjoyed a seafood buffet and a relaxed Q&A session with several professionals, covering topics such as life on tour and mental resilience.
“I think the ladies will have a real treat watching the pros,” Gainer said. “I’m sure they will be impressed with how far they hit their driver and obviously their short games as well, which are right up there.”
A Day to Remember
The winning team included professional Kelsey Bennett and Castle Royle members Sue Gutierrez, Yvonne Craven, and Julia Measures—each taking home a brand-new golf bag. Among the professionals, Annabel Fuller topped the leaderboard with a score of -5.
Gainer, who earned her first LET victory earlier this year, sees the event as part of a broader mission: “I love hosting these events, seeing loads of ladies together and everyone inspiring each other… the women’s game is growing and growing.”
A Platform for the Next Generation
The all-female invitational is more than just a competition—it’s designed to foster community, spotlight talent, and encourage new players, especially girls, to get involved in the sport. With growing visibility and support, events like these are helping to reshape the future of women’s golf from the grassroots up.
Castle Royle is part of The Club Company, a network of 18 premium country clubs across central and southern England that blend championship golf with wellness-focused facilities.
