Filmed before her Solheim Cup selection, Mimi Rhodes talks to Di Stewart on the Why Golf podcast about tour life, family and her hopes of making Team Europe. She has since been confirmed as one of Anna Nordqvist’s captain’s picks.
This episode of Why Golf was filmed before Mimi Rhodes was named a Team Europe captain’s pick. Host Di Stewart sits down with her mid-season, as she talks through her whirlwind two years since turning professional, tour life, family, and how much a Solheim Cup place would mean to her.
Rhodes was later confirmed as one of Anna Nordqvist’s four captain’s picks, alongside Leona Maguire, Julia Lopez Ramirez and Nastasia Nadaud, completing Team Europe’s line-up for the 20th Solheim Cup against Angela Stanford’s USA at Bernardus Golf, from 11–13 September. It follows a breakout 2025 season for the Englishwoman, who won three times on the Ladies European Tour and was named Rookie of the Year.
Rhodes earned her maiden LPGA Tour card at Q-Series in December 2025, finishing tied-24th to move up from the Ladies European Tour. Her rookie season has been solid rather than spectacular so far: a top-10 finish at the LPGA’s season-opening event in Singapore, a cut made at the Chevron Championship, and steady week-to-week progress.
With four rookies in this year’s European team, this is a good chance to get to know one of them before Solheim week: what drives her, what she nearly gave up golf for, and why she wanted this so badly.
