14-year-old from Crewe claims title after comeback victory
Morgan Bollan, 14, emerged as the 2025 Welsh Girls’ Champion after a determined performance in the final at Holyhead Golf Club. The young golfer from Crewe, who qualifies to represent Wales through her mother from Mountain Ash, came from two holes down to defeat Rebecca Del Sol-Gonzalez of Pennard.
Bollan entered the match play stages as the No. 2 seed after finishing runner-up in the stroke play portion of the tournament. Her win caps off a strong summer season that also saw her earn a spot in the Curry Cup in the U.S. via the Underrated Golf Tour.
Inspired by Welsh Role Models
Bollan is part of a growing group of young players inspired by the visibility of elite women’s golf in Wales. This year’s AIG Women’s Open played at Royal Porthcawl, featured former Welsh Girls’ Championship runner-up Darcey Harry in the field—a fact not lost on Bollan.
“It was really exciting to have the AIG Women’s Open in Wales,” she said. “Hopefully it will encourage more girls and juniors to start playing and be inspired by those players.”
“It’s especially inspiring to see someone like Darcey, who came through the same events we’re playing, now competing with the world’s best.”
