Perthshire retreat introduces contemporary countryside stays as part of £30m transformation
Murrayshall Country Estate, just outside Perth, has unveiled a collection of luxury accommodation pods, marking the first stage of a £30 million investment project designed to reshape the estate’s role as one of Scotland’s top countryside and golf destinations.
A New Way to Stay in Perthshire
The bespoke pods bring a modern twist to the estate’s 365 acres of rolling hills, offering golfers, couples, and families a different way to experience Perthshire. Ranging in size, the pods cater to groups of four golfers or smaller parties, with features like underfloor heating, smart televisions, air conditioning, private terraces, and even hot tubs for post-round relaxation.
Set apart from the main estate buildings, the pods are positioned for privacy while showcasing wide views of the surrounding landscape. Their design blends contemporary comfort with a closer connection to nature, creating an alternative to traditional hotel rooms.
Expanding Choice for Guests
The new additions increase accommodation capacity by 50% and complement Murrayshall’s existing 40 rooms and suites. Guests can now choose from three distinct options: classic rooms in the main house, spacious suites in Balvaird House, or the newly introduced pods for a more secluded experience.
General Manager Gary Silcock said the launch is a milestone that has been “five years in the making,” adding:
“The pods give golfers and leisure guests a completely new way to experience the estate. That expansion not only strengthens our hospitality offering but also creates valuable employment opportunities for the local community.”
A Broader Investment Vision
The pods are the first visible stage of Murrayshall’s wider development plans. The estate recently improved its hotel facilities, golf courses, and grounds, helping it rise in the latest Top 100 Golf Resorts rankings published by Golf World and National Club Golfer.
Future plans include a new driving range, 25 holiday lodges, and a 27,000 sq. ft. spa and leisure complex, all aimed at elevating Murrayshall’s status as a leading Scottish destination for golf and relaxation.
