Welcome to the beta version of the new Women & Golf website. Our web monkeys are still hard at work and welcome your feedback.
Not only the home of golf, St Andrews also presents breathtaking views of the West Sands Beach and the North Sea with memories of the movie Chariots of Fire. Step back in time down the storied cobbled streets to explore ancient castles, stately homes, and the third oldest university in the English-speaking world. Or step outside to enjoy bird hunting, salmon fishing, and shopping among dozens of local boutiques and pubs.
The sheer joy of standing on the first tee of this world famous golf course is worth all the effort required to get a tee time. As a course for women it's very long, with this difficulty offset by a few par 5s where the men play par 4. The greens are huge so not difficult to hit, but if you use a GPS that measures to the centre of the green be aware that could be 40 yards from the flag! There are hidden bunkers on some holes so use the course planner wisely. Is it the best course for women? Probably not really. Is it worth playing? Absolutely without question.
