Welcome to the beta version of the new Women & Golf website. Our web monkeys are still hard at work and welcome your feedback.
Blessed with a secluded spot in the south Buckinghamshire countryside, yet easily reachable from London, Harewood Downs Golf Club has a rich history and an exciting future. The 18-hole course, clubhouse, and training facilities are open throughout the year. This gives members and visitors endless opportunities to play, practice, and relax.
The course boasts facilities that include USGA specification greens that are maintained to the highest standards. Guaranteed to test the capabilities of even the best-putting strokes. The clearly defined fairways that 'define the best way' of playing the hole. And the manicured tees that you would be happy to putt on.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by their dedicated team and shown around the clubhouse. The bar and dining area provide an excellent choice of beverages and expertly created menus from which to choose. The spacious changing facilities, large external patio area and ample car parking ensure your overall experience will be one to remember.

What an interesting course Harewood turned out to be. Set on the slopes of the valley down to the river Misbourne it's not what you'd call a flat course, and all the more interesting it is because of it. If you don't already know, look up how to play uphill/downhill,ball below feet and ball above feet lies before you play there, and I recommend that you do. There are many elevated tees and greens and this makes it a course you have to think your way round, not just go for the club that normally goes that distance for you; club selection even more important.
Although there aren't toilets on the course, it's possible to come into the club house to use the facilities half way round (hence ticking that there are toilets).
Thank you to the Pro shop for stocking women's golf shoes in a size 7, always useful when the boot bag gets left in the porch at home - aargh.
I particularly liked the 16th par 4 (SI 2), which was an almost 90 degree dogleg left to right with a row of small trees on the right hand side of the fairway encouraging a drive over them for the longer hitter. The approach shot was uphill over done plateau to get to the green which was on a further plateau. Really tricky.
For me, the test of how good a course is, is whether I would pay good money to go back and play again, and in Harewoods case, I most definitely would. It's interesting and challenging enough to make me want to go back and play with the benefit of hindsight.

All kidding aside the Alpacas are the least interesting thing about Harewood Downs. Club house is newly refurbished and looks really smart. Greeted by Connor, the club Pro, who is very personable and helpful.
This course is not for the faint hearted as there are some significant hills but they add to the game. All the par threes are challenging and the signature 12th hole is as good a par three as you will find.
Really enjoyed the dryness of the course, the true greens which will be even better when they are less sandy and the views which are a 360 panoramic treat! The food afterwards was really good and all in all a great day out in the Buckinghamshire countryside!

Harewood Downs is a stunning course nr Amersham in rolling countryside. Lovely views of the local countryside and plenty of trees. Played here as a fourball we were warmly greeted by the proshop and given all the info we needed pre game. The course made you think with the ups and downs and some very tricky amusing par 3's. Some of the fairways were difficult to get at for me but my playing partners nailed them. An electric trolly is a great help on this course I would not fancy carrying. The club house newly refurbed had a very relaxed friendly atmosphere with a lovely seating area outside and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly and our late lunch was excellent. I really enjoyed my day here and would definitely go back.
